Another Way To See It

The Places That Have Not Known Love

Randy Piondexter, Tracy Holemeyer, & Kim Moran Season 3 Episode 46

On this episode of The Another Way To See It podcast, we dive into the second gate of grief, as articulated in Francis Weller’s book- The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief. The second gate is The Places That have Not Known Love. Francis writes:

These are the profoundly tender places precisely because they have lived outside of kindness, compassion, warmth, or welcome. These are the places within us that have been wrapped in shame and banished to the farthest shores of our lives.

This gate is another one of these universal portals to the soul. By tending the grief of this gate we retrieve parts of ourselves long banished, we begin to value, know our worthiness, and claim our birthright-belonging.

Francis Weller is a psychotherapist, writer, and soul activist. We highly recommend that you find a copy of this book that you can write in because it is such a valuable resource for the inevitable encounters that we all have or will have with grief.
