Another Way To See It

Working with Ancestral Grief

Randy Piondexter, Tracy Holemeyer, & Kim Moran Season 3 Episode 49

On this episode of The Another Way To See It podcast, we talk about working with inherited or ancestral grief, articulated in Francis Weller’s book- The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief. The Fifth Gate of grief, Weller describes ancestral grief thusly; “ We hold this grief in our beings, even after many generations in the new land. This sorrow becomes concentrated over time, gathering grief unto itself, and is carried in our psyches unconsciously as diminished inheritance.”

Francis Weller is a psychotherapist, writer, and soul activist. We highly recommend that you find a copy of this book that you can write in because it is such a valuable resource for the inevitable encounters that we all have or will have with grief.
